Thread 5 of 6 | | Thread Starter | | | Donald Collins | eMembedded VB 3.0I'm in the process of writing a simple/small application for my Wife. The database will be a tab delimited text files. IÆd eventually like to port the program to a WinCE Palm device and code it using eMbedded VB 3.0. However, I havenÆt purchased the device yet. My Wife isnÆt big on using PDAÆs, so IÆll probably buy one on eBay cheap. (B/W display, CE 2.0), , HereÆs my question. How can I know, prior to purchasing the device, if my compiled (eMbedded) program will run on the device? The eMbedded specs detail the requirements for the development machine but not the target machine. So, can I buy a WinCE 2.0 machine or must I buy the newer 3.0?, , If you can point me to the correct documentation, that would be much appreciated., , Thanks., , Don | 1 Reply: | Scott | Doing a comprehensive Google search, I found a URL that looks like a good place to start finding the answer:, , PocketPC Developer's Network/eMbeddedVB , , It seems that you need to specify the target SDK when you begin your eVB app. Not only does the CE version affect the deployment, but the processor as well (ARM, MIPS, SH3, SH4, etc.)., , Let us know if you find the answer... |

Thread 3 of 6 | | Thread Starter | | | NateDog | please rescue my hard drive from within dosMy compaq crashed , please tell me how I can install windows 98 from dos without formatting my hard drive. DOS appears to work fine, and I have my Windows CD plus a restore CD that restores all the software that came with the computer. , What I don't want to lose are some of the files in MY DOCUMENTS. If I can get windows intstalled then I can use my CD burner to back up those files. PLease let me know if there is a way to install windows from DOS without losing these files. | 1 Reply: | mprestwood | The answer is yes. Basically you just need to run the install. Pay attention to the setup and when it asks to reformat and/or partition, select skip or no. So now the trick is getting the Windows 98 setup files off the CD., , , , [*]If your motherboard bios allows you to boot from CD-Rom, then just set it to do that and put the Windows 98 CD in you CD, , [*]Do you have any other way to get access to the setup files? For example, on a d... |

Thread 2 of 6 | | Thread Starter | | | Catalin2 | man i'm stumped with this CD-ROM!i recently partitioned and formatted my hard drive on my pentium-S at 90MHz (whatever that means). , i reinstalled DOS 6.22 and then Windows 3.1 and i'm now trying to reinstall my CD-ROM drive. , Before i partitioned and formatted my hard drive, the CD-ROM was working fine (though a bit slow x4), i tried to get it to work by reinstalling the manufacturer's disks. , So far this is what i know:, , Model No C645, FCC ID JUP645A, When i took off the computer cover, the wires from the CD-ROM drive to the MagicS30 Sound Card were labelled IDE CD-ROM, which was connected to a wire labelled PANASONIC CD-ROM, then MITSUMI CD-ROM, then SONY CD-ROM. It looks like a single wire with white plastic bits joining them., So I'm not quite sure what make and model my CD-ROM drive is. I looked on the actual drive and it said ACER but when i installed the ACER drivers, the CDROM didn't work., , The only result i got with the CDROM was with the MITSUMI driver. After i installed it and rebooted the computer:... | 1 Reply: | mprestwood | Windows 95 came with some CD-ROM drivers although it was still difficult to get some CD-ROMs to work. Starting with NT 4 and Windows 98, Windows comes with all the CD-ROM drivers available. Therefore my first suggestion is to upgrade to at least Windows 98 or ME (Windows ME is the new version of Windows 98)., , Now, if that isn't a possibility, then your stuck with debugging your current setup. I recommend that you verify the CD is working. To do... |
