We have started to have a very strange problem. We have a multi user application and randomly, everything locks ups. The problem is isolated to one user (random, not always the same), having a write lock on pdoxusrs.lck file. If I go to the file server and use computer management/System Tools/Shared Folders/Open Files to locate the file, then close it, it all starts working again, except the user who has had the open file closed out from under him/her. I have tried everything here: http://www.prestwood.com/ASPSuite/KB/document_view.asp?qid=101149 but to no avail. We are using Paradox 10 SP2. The terminal servers are window 2003, and the file server is Windows 2003 (all 32bit, no 64b). Again, multi user application, random user placing a write lock on a pdoxusrs.lck file and not releasing it causing our application to stop working until the handle is closed for the user with the lock.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you made sure that the virus scanner is not checking the folder that contains the lck files.

Yes. Sorry I should have mentioned that... The directory is excluded from AV analysis...

This is killing us! Still no solutions, not a back up problem (using veritas), not AV, the LCK file gets a write lock and then other users cannot access it until I go into computer management on the server, shared folders, open files and then manually close the file. this allows other users to proceed... this never happened before. maybe it's windows that is causing the problem? anybody? any ideas?

In your first post you mentioned that this just started.  I gather your app has been running for some time without issue and just reciently started behaving this way.  So what has changed on your network?  I gather you did check to see if the AV on the server was checking the working dir.  Did you verify that AV on the PC's also exclude the working directory?
