ProView

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to Paradox and trying to use ProView.  I get the following error and wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction.

The design object, 'C:\Program Files\VMSOFT\pvlib11', could not be opened.

Click Forward Button

The form references external procedures or DLLs which could not be found

Click Forward Button 

Cannot find reference 'GetCharSets' in DLL library 'VMPM1'

Click Forward Button 

Could not find DLL, VMPM1, referenced in the USES statement.  You cannot call methods from this DLL

Click OK

Get a Warning Message Box

Couldn't open C:\Program Files\VMSoft\pvlib11.ldl

What exactly is this ProView?  There are references to several software packages by the name of Proview on the internet. 

This error can be caused by several issues.  The first is indicated by the third error message. Paradox cant find the dll either because the dll isnt installed or it is not in the standard path.  The second reason is that this might be an Activex dll.  Paradox is unable to access the functionality in these dll's

I had exactly the same problem after I switched from Vista to Windows 7, using Paradox 10 SP 2 and 3 and 4. I found the VMPM1.DLL file in my windows.old\windows\system32 directory, copied it over to my current system32 folder, and now Proview works again. I am using Proview 10_263, which I think is the latest.

Yes, I seen his site and sent him a message with my errors but haven't heard back from him, so I thought I'd post here to see if someone else has had this problem..

I've had this same problem today and this is how I got round it:

1) Search hard drive and registry for VMsoft and Proview

2) Deleted all entries found in registry and hard drive

3) Extracted the Proview executable and extracted it to c:\proview

4) Started Paradox, and dragged Proview.fdl on to Paradox

5) Said yes to installing to Program Files\VMsoft

6) Restarted Paradox and it was there with no errors!

I think Proview is the best file browser that there is for Paradox out there, so enjoy!
