Can VB4 and VB6 coexist?

Can VB4 and VB6 coexist? in VB Classic Other topic (part of our Visual Basic Classic group).

Quick Search: coexist   Can VB4   Can VB4 VB6

I uave Visual Studio with MSDN ver 6 installed on my main PC (W2K) and have to interface with a 16 bit DLL for a product that I am using. The product developers tel me that VB4 in 16 bit mode is required to access the DLL, since it was written in that mode (quite a while ago). I'd llike to upgrade the interface software but it would cost me about $500!

I have VB4 and wonder if I can put it on the computer also - hence the question about having both VB4 and VS6 installed at the same time. Or should I use a different box then just copy the .exe when I have it ready?

Thanks,

Bill Allen

Hi Bill,

Yes, you can install both VB4 and VB6 on the same box and run and develop both VB4 and VB6 apps.

Hi Mike,

Happy Easter!

Thanks for the great reply! I want to avoid confusion or overwriting of controls, DLL's or other objects. A VB4 package is on its way (cheap$) and I will be time travelling to the past soon enough. I will make sure it installs in a distinctly separate folder.

Thanks,

Bill
