Tips and Tricks

  • Be aware that not all keystrokes can be handled by synergy. In particular, ctrl+alt+del is not handled. However, synergy can convert ctrl+alt+pause into ctrl+alt+del on the client side. (Synergy must be configured to autostart when the computer starts on the client for this to work on the Windows NT family.) Some non-standard keys may not work, especially "multimedia" buttons, though several are correctly handled.

    I am enjoying having and running my own server (even if it is Virtual)that I am really going to hate the day I have to give it up, and I am hoping that the company will give a discount to keep my business, or I find a couple people to share it with, yeah I think sharing it would be best as $99 per month is kinda steep.I have also been considering building one, I have used my old home systems to run a home server and that ran smoothly.Well, 'till next time {#geek}

    2008 Hyper-V VPS For A Year. Part 2
    Well, here it is almost 3 months later and I have not been booted, banned, or eighty six-ed from my Windows 2008 Server, because honestly, I did not think I would last 2 weeks.

    Wireless Router & Security: A Step-By-Step Guide
    Setting up a wireless router is easy. Essentially you turn your cable or DSL modem off and your wireless router on. Then, you connect the router to the modem with a cable, and turn the modem back on. You are more or less done. The wireless network wizard on your computer will pick up the router and, if your ISP does not have any special requirements, away-you-go, you are on the Internet.

    Hi Christopher, I had to delete the images from this article because they were not resolving. One of them was pointing to you C: drive and the other to a website but the image was no longer available. Can you edit this article and upload the images to our server? Use the image icon on the editor.

    Hi Chris, I just approved your account. We approve members about once or twice a day. We have a bulk approve process but it's a manual process and someone has to review each new member (at least a quick scan). We get about 30 new members a week which isn't too bad and we delete bad accounts (when detected) and unused accounts are occassionally set to inactive.

    Dynamic IT
    With Hyper-V, organizations can implement dynamic IT environments. Dynamic IT environments provide a new approach to provisioning servers that is based on actual utilization and service demand rather than on less flexible criteria, such as expected demand.

    USB drives have a limited write cycle of a million writes or some huge figure, but will we see the write life of these memory units exceeded and last like some hard-drives that have lasted for over ten years? At first sales happen, the price they will be asking for the new technology may be a decider unless the specs are truly spectular. There have been successful attempts to use CF style cards to replace hard-drives in little units like the Libretto's and it saves power although writing is slower in most cases.  It be good to start to implement the memory solutions they currently use in low gig (not hard-drive) devices and make them available for Laptops where G-force and other damaging environments won't be a factor anymore - These would be very cheap compared to the Samsung drive and then can be phased out when the better units come along at a cheaper price.. Either way, the memory units will become a natural part of future computers so we better be prepared for it...
