I am in the process of getting my MCITP 2008 Server admin certification. This is my second day of the boot camp 8 days all together. The bootcamp is held by CED Solutions. I have taken 1 other course with them my CCENT which I was successful at. CED Solutions is a very good training facility if you are a little rusty or just want to learn new things. SO if anyone is looking for some certs or training look CED Solutions up.

CMS
Short for Content Management Sytem (CMS) and is used to manage content on a website such as web page content, knowledge base, online store, message boards, etc. A popular .Net CMS' right now is DotNetNuke. Prestwood's own ASPSuite is a customized CMS we use for our website and our clients.

Interesting. I had heard that some older browsers ignore it, but not that there is an alternate way of displaying it.  Since there are so many browsers, and open-source variants, I can't really answer that with a definite answer.

SHORTCUT ICON
Get rid of the boring default icon on your website.  Add a custom icon!  Most browsers support .ico and the most popular ones will show any standard web image.  Follow this easy step by step to add one to your web page or site. Example: This is Prestwood.com's icon.

Does this technique work for all browsers? I've always used a combo approach with "bookmark" too as follows:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico">

<link rel="bookmark icon" href="/favicon.ico">Is my technique outdated now

When replacing "oo" in Prestwood with an infinity sign I think then infinity is definately a symbol. It's just too distinctive, it's not subtle. Although it's okay to break the rules, I think when it comes to "business art" it's better to stick with the rules unless truly inspired to break them. I think combining two elements into a single symbol is okay but using two symbols in different locations within a logo is not a good idea. >>Does the fact that the three symbols are composited really make them a single symbol? Yes, absolutely. I think you tore apart a SINGLE image that made since as a single image. That would be like me saying a picture of a car is more than one symbol because tires and glass and windshield wipers, etc. are also symbols on their own. I think what makes a single symbol is whether or not the elements you are looking at belong to the same image. As for the Delphi Prism logo, to me it's a single symbol because the two elements you discuss ...

Logos Should Use 1 Symbol Max
Each logo you create should have at most one symbol. You can mess with the text is "textual" ways such as font, color, and minor tweaks, but if you include a "symbol", you should include only one symbol.

Although I'm not married to using the infinity character in our logo, I'm going to argue in its favor. 1: "∞" is not any more a "symbol" than "/" is.  Both are ASCII characters (236 for infinity) All I had to do to make ∞ appear here was hold down the alt key while I typed 236 on the numeric keypad. 2: In all things literary, it's sometimes okay to break the rules.  3: Using an uncommon ASCII character with other ASCII characters doesn't necessarily promo...

I was also asked recently, why we no longer develop websites for 800x600 resolution. The reason is quite simply that according to w3schools.com, as of January 2008 86% of the web surfers are using a resolution of 1024x768 or higher.

    I was asked recently why we removed Netscape from our standard list of browsers we design pages for. The reason is that Netscape is no longer supported by Netscape. Refer to the following page for more information:

    I don't think so. Looks like a translation engine. However, I really don't know. Perhaps someone who knows for sure can post a comment.
