Tech KB: Wireless Networking Topic

This is hard trying to nav the boards in my Droid SDK!

If you have a USB wireless device such as a wireless NIC, mouse controller, etc. that has a weak signal because of location, try adding a USB extension cable and placing the device in a more open location.

USB cables from stores such as Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. are over priced 5 or 6 times what you can get on the internet.

For wireless network cards, you can also buy a range-extending antenna for the computer's WiFi card or router, or a wireless range extender.

Setting up a wireless router is easy. Essentially you turn your cable or DSL modem off and your wireless router on. Then, you connect the router to the modem with a cable, and turn the modem back on. You are more or less done. The wireless network wizard on your computer will pick up the router and, if your ISP does not have any special requirements, away-you-go, you are on the Internet.
